Ready to Work Apprenticeship Program

March 15, 2013

Our “Ready to Work” program is gearing up for 2013.  The communities are holding informational meetings with parents and teens.  This summer, all 9 family communities will participate in the program with a total of 65 teens expected to participate state-wide.

Patrick spoke at our Ready to Work Orientation last night. He told the new group of RTW youth how great the program was. He explained the job he did and what a great learning experience it was for him. He said he was lucky because the employer was in the process of moving his shop to a new location so he was hired to work extra hours also. Patrick told how he used his own earning to purchase his school clothes & supplies. He said it felt great to be able to do that. You could hear the pride in his voice as he spoke.  –Mary Castorena, Riverwalk Coordinator.
